I am a journalist and artist who has built my dream career.
The DC arts nonprofit Day Eight appointed me to their board of directors and arts journalism committee. Two other arts organizations in the District also selected me for leadership roles: Emerging Arts Leaders DC, a young professionals network, and The Sanctuaries, a multicultural group.
I was featured in a Q&A about shaping a career that you love as part of DC's BEACON mentorship program for female entrepreneurs, which I am involved with to further develop my work plus serve as a mentor to share my knowledge.
Though I happily call DC home, I am Midwestern at heart: I was born in Battle Creek, Michigan ("Cereal City") and raised in the Chicagoland area. I earned scholarship money for a bachelor's in international studies from Washington University in St. Louis, including a semester writing program at the University of Oxford, and a master’s in writing from the University of Southern California, where I evaluated screenplays for Teddy Zee Productions and The Montecito Picture Company.
